Escape Rooms Middlemoor

Steam Punk

Overview

This was our second visit to Escape Rooms Middlemoor as we often come up this way to visit friends and after our first experience here trying out Peaky Blinders, we were looking forward to taking on their other room. They currently don’t have their own website but they do have a Facebook page where you can call and book a room. They have 3 rooms open, Peaky Blinders (See other review on Facebook page), Sweeney Todd (Review coming soon) and Steampunk.

When you arrive at the venue, you easily follow the escape rooms sign through a couple of car parks. The rooms are set up in static caravans and there are plenty of car parking spaces. Reece (the owner) made us all feel welcome and remembered us all from our previous visit and ran through the gate we were about to tackle.

We preferred the attention to detail in this room compared to the Peaky Blinders room that we had previously tackled here, although the theme didn’t really scream of steampunk. There were a few industrial objects scattered around and some tools that could have caused an issue if you were of the mindset of sticking your hands in everything  The room was actually quite dim but most of our eyes did adjust quickly to the darker surroundings but there were torches available if you needed it.

There were a lot of items in the room that you could be led astray with but there were signs telling you not too touch which saved a lot of time and frustration. The main room is quite large and spacious with hidden surprises coming out of different places……

We got stuck into this room quite easily compared to other rooms we have tried and looking back, the puzzles weren’t that taxing apart from the odd one or two. Similar to Peaky Blinders, Steampunk was quite search heavy with plenty of things being hidden. Other puzzles gave you combinations for padlocks and some physical games as well. Having read other reviews, we know the end game has caught a few people out but we actually managed to get on okay with it and we escaped just in the nick of time. Again, due to this being one of our earlier rooms, we weren’t that fluid in our approach, hence the time it took for us to complete it.

Due to the fact we escaped with literally seconds to spare, we really enjoyed ourselves and it gave us quite a rush. Looking back, the end game was slightly anti climatic compared to the rest of the room but it was still enjoyable.

There was a TV in the room that could be used for Reece, the owner to give us some hints and clues if we needed. There weren’t any walkie talkies and Reece explained at the beginning of the game that he would be able to see and hear us so we just had to ask out loud if we needed any help. Reece did say to us that he wouldn’t put any clues on the screen unless we asked and he may not always respond to us if he felt we were on the right track. It seemed a strange approach but I guess it works for some people. The screen was also used in part of the story and drama and this confused us from time to time as we kept looking up at the screen to see if it was a clue or not.

Round Up

You can see that Reece has put so much into the room as he has his others. We left the room feeling satisfied that we had completed it and we enjoyed the journey throughout.

We enjoyed our second visit to Escape Rooms Middlemoor and this room is definitely more suited for beginners and enthusiasts rather that expert teams as it might not float your boat. Worth a visit
